Companies Win Training Award
In March of 2006, The McGregor Metalworking Companies received the Precision Metalforming Association's A.R. Hedberg Training and Education Award. The companies were recognized for their training program which is called the pay-for-skills program. In this program, employees are paid based on their skill level. As employees work to increase their knowledge base by mastering skill pathways, their pay increases. Skill pathways are set up in the following areas:
- Press operation
- Material handling
- Secondary machine operation
- Quality
- Material services
- Spot welding
- Robotic welding
- Assembly
The Hedberg Award also recognized the McGregor Companies' support of employees' continued education. They work in cooperation with Clark State Community College, which awards credit hours towards the completion of a degree for graduates of the pay-for-skills program.
